ROSS BLECKNER: REMEMBER ME
This film explores Ross Bleckner’s creative process and the lifestyle that drives it. The viewer experiences the energy of the artist as he prepares for a show and what it's like for him to be present at his own Opening Night. Woven throughout are interviews with his colleagues such as David Salle, Eric Fischl and Chuck Close, as well as curators, dealers, collectors and friends. They weave an intricate web of critical commentary and loyal defense, ultimately revealing an artist of complexity and impressive staying power.
The title, Remember Me, connotes multiple meanings, referring to a Bleckner painting, a generation of artists who got their start during the 1970’s, the Aids epidemic, and the artist’s own wish for immortality.
